This charming English and Chinese-inspired garden invites you to its Mother’s Day Curators Tour from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Also on Mother’s Day at Innisfree, there will be a daffodil viewing from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Come and enjoy the transcendental beauty of Marion Beck’s daffodils. Some may have been planted as early as 1930, and all were planted before Mrs. Beck’s death in 1959. Mother’s Day weekend also happens to be the first weekend of the Apple Blossom Festival at Barton Orchards. Each year, apple blossoms emerge at the peak of springtime, peppering the orchard in a dazzling display of white flowers. It is truly a sight to behold! During the festival, there will also be hayrides to take you around the orchard to see the apple blossoms, in addition to live music, a petting zoo, farm market, baked goods, concessions, and tap room. If Mom is the outdoorsy type, then why not accompany her on a leisurely stroll? Peach Hill Park in Poughkeepsie park is open from sunrise to sunset, and offers 3.5 miles of scenic hiking trails through a former apple orchard. At 485 feet, the summit of Peach Hill is the highest point in the Town of Poughkeepsie, and the views from the top are magnificent in all directions. Dogs are welcome, too. Treat mom to a creative brunch buffet with breathtaking views overlooking the Hudson River. The dining room will open at 1 p.m. on Mother’s Day at Terrapin in Rhinebeck, and offered will be a prix fixe menu that includes a tapas platter, a choice of more than 10 savory entrees, and the dessert du jour. The entrees include bowtie pasta with sweet sausage, garlic, cream, tomatoes and broccoli rabe, and asiago cheese-crusted chicken breasts with a whole-gran mustard sauce. Regular dining room menus will not be available, although children 12 and younger may order off the regular kids menu. Cost is $69 per person excluding beverages.
