January 1 from 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. at Walkway Over The Hudson
Join Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park staff and members of the Walkway community for the annual First Day Hike on New Year’s Day. Leashed pets and the whole family are welcome on this easy 1-to-3-mile hike. The Walkway Over the Hudson is 1.28 miles from gate-to-gate. Both entrances will be open. Continuing a treasured holiday tradition, the Met presents a new installment in its series of abridged opera adaptations for family audiences. Laurent Pelly’s storybook staging of Massenet’s Cendrillon, a hit of the 2017–18 season, is presented with an all-new English translation in an abridged 90 minutes, with mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard as its rags-to-riches princess. Maestro Emmanuel Villaume leads a delightful cast, which includes mezzo-soprano Emily D’Angelo as Cinderella’s Prince Charming, soprano Jessica Pratt as her Fairy Godmother, and mezzo-soprano Stephanie Blythe and bass-baritone Laurent Naouri as her feuding guardians. Dinosaur World Live offers the perfect treat, with an entertaining and educational live show that will delight the whole family. Using stunning puppetry to bring remarkably life-like dinosaurs to the stage, Dinosaur World Live presents a host of impressive pre-historic creatures including every child’s favorite flesh-eating giant, the Tyrannosaurus Rex, along with a Giraffatitan, Microraptor, Stegosaurus, and Triceratops. The show introduces Miranda, daughter of paleontologists, who grew up surrounded by dinosaurs on a far-away island off the coast of South America. This is the first of three Third Fridays sessions in support of the Wassaic Project’s 2021–2022 Winter Exhibition, What Comes After. Visit Maxon Mills and take a guided tour of the show! There will be wine and light snacks available. The other sessions are on February 18th and March 18th. On display for their winter exhibit is " What Comes After" which presents ten artists throughout the seven floors of Maxon Mills who are, in one way or another, reflecting on life in the aftermath. Take part in a night of laughter at Le Chambord at Curry Estate! Performing in their ballroom is stand-up comic Fred Rubino from Brooklyn, New York. He performs all over the East Coast from comedy clubs to casinos to resorts. He has been called the voice of Italian Americans and has made appearances on The Sid and Bernie Show on 77WABC. Drinks and select snacks are available during the show. There is a $20 food/beverage minimum in addition to ticket prices.
